Arsenal's pre-season tour got off to the perfect start with a comfortable 2-0 win over Sydney FC.

Per Mertesacker scored the opener with a well-taken volley before Alexandre Lacazette sealed the win just over 10 minutes into his debut.

Young midfielder Reiss Nelson stole the show, though, with a lively and hugely impressive display before his eventual substitution.

Next up for the FA Cup holders is a game against Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday before heading to Shanghai where they will face Bayern Munich, who dumped them out of the Champions League earlier this year, and then they play Chelsea in Beijing.
