HEALTH: MANGO LEAVES AND DIABETES part 1

of a truth the saying that what a man don't know is an elder to the still remains true as ignorant is never an excuse, i stumbled across a article online few years ago about the health benefit of the mango leaves.

it was my first time then coming across such articles so i never really paid attention to it not until recently no doubt "seeing is believing".

listed below are some of the health benefits of the mango leaves.

  • Mango leaves Prevents Cancer:
Research has shown antioxidant compounds in mango fruit have been found to protect against colon, breast, leukemia and prostate cancers. These compounds include quercetin, isoquercitrin, astragalin, fisetin, gallic acid and methyl gallate, as well as the abundant enzymes. one may want to ask it's is the fruit that does the magic and not the leaves; well research has also come to show that there is a higher amount of this antioxidant in the leaves.

how to administer

  1. boil a fresh mango leave up to 30mins.
  2. after boiling use a sieve to extract the water separating it from the leaves
  3. pour in either a plastic or a bottle container(do not refrigerate)
  4. using a 20-25cl cup pour and drink morning and evening daily.

  •  Clears the Skin:
Can be used both internally and externally for the skin. Mangos help clear clogged pores and eliminate pimples.

One cup of boiled  mango leaves supplies 25 percent of the needed daily value of vitamin A, which promotes good eyesight and prevents night blindness and dry eyes.
  •  Lowers Cholesterol: when we take things into our body most times, we often don't know the effects of this things in us; many of like too much of fatty foods and starch, foods like mayonnaise, butter, beef oils  e.t.c the truth is that this fatty and oily foods contains too much cholesterol which when much in the body leads
to heart failure, arthritis and muscular cramps.
The high levels of fiber, pectin and vitamin C in mangoes and in mango leaves helps to lower serum cholesterol levels, specifically Low-Density Lipoprotein (the bad stuff).

  • Helps with Diabetes:
Mango leaves help normalize insulin levels in the blood. The traditional home remedy involves boiling leaves in water, soaking through the night and then consuming the filtered decoction in the morning. Mango fruit also has a relatively low glycemic index (41-60) so moderate quantities will not spike your sugar levels.
