Suicide bomber kills self in
Maiduguri as army warns
residents over kid-bomber
From Timothy Olanrewaju, Maiduguri
A suicide bomber yesterday blew himself
up at a military checkpoint at the outskirts
of Maiduguri, injuring three people.
A security source told Daily Sun that the
bomber was among other passengers in a
bus that were ordered to come down for
search at the Njimtilo’s checkpoint.
The source said the driver of the bus
picked the passenger on the way unknown
to him that he was a Boko Haram bomber.
The Civilian JTF (vigilance group) at the
checkpoint had ordered for a thorough
check of the bus, a development that
compelled all the passengers, including
the bomber to come down, Mohammed
Mustapha, a traveller told Daily Sun.
While the passengers were filing out for
search and check, the bomber was said to
have stepped aside and blew himself up.
A security source said three people were
injured.
Meanwhile, the army yesterday warned
the people against collecting wrapped
items in polythene bags from kids,
children or youths not known to them.
Acting Director Army Public Relations, Col.
Sani Usman in a message on his social
media platform, said Boko Haram was
planning to step up more bomb attacks,
warning people to be extra-vigilant.
IS IT BACKWARD OR FORWARD???
